What is the difference between natural and organic ingredients?
Natural ingredients are derived solely from plant, animal or mined sources, either in their unprocessed state or having been subjected to physical or heat processing, rendering, purification, extraction, hydrolysis, enzymolysis or fermentation, but not having been produced by or subject to a chemically synthetic change, except in amounts as might occur unavoidably in good manufacturing processes. Simply stated, if you process something that starts off as natural, then it will remain natural as long as you don’t change its chemical composition.
Organic ingredients are natural foods produced by farming practices that focus on conserving resources. Organics are grown without the use of synthetic pesticide and fertilizers, bioengineering or ionizing radiation.
Organic Evaporated Cane Juice Crystals
This “organic sugar” is made from 100% certified organic sugar cane. It is a “first crystallization” sugar, which means the cane is harvested, the juice is extracted, any field impurities are removed and it is crystallized. All this is done within 24 hours from when the cane is harvested. Because it is far less processes than traditional sugars, it retains a natural blond color and a delicious natural taste. Also available in a powder.
Organic Brown Sugar
Organic Brown Sugar is a light-colored soft brown sugar with a mild cane molasses flavor. This soft brown sugar provides color, pleasing caramel flavors and increased moisture retention and shelf life of numerous products. Applications include baked goods, meat glazes, as well as flavor and color addition in almost any sweetened product. We have both Organic Light Brown and Organic Dark Brown Sugar available.
Organic Cane Syrup (Invert)
Organic Cane Syrup is a liquid invert that provides the manufacturer with an easy-to-handle alternative to granulated sugars. It is naturally inverted and is monitored consistently for high standards. Using Organic Cane Syrup saves the manufacturer time and money by eliminating the need to dissolve granulated sugars.
Organic Cane Syrup (Non-Invert)
Similar to Invert Organic Cane Syrup, except total solids are approximately 67.5% compared to 76.5%. Blended with water, this sweet flavored liquid sugar has no other additives or preservatives. Certified Kosher and GMO free.
Organic Sucanat is made from 100% certified organic sugar cane. It is minimally processed to result in the most natural and delicious cane sweetener available. After the sugar cane is harvested, it is pressed to squeeze out the cane juice. The juice is clarified, filtered and evaporated to remove excess water. The resulting syrup is then crystallized, which is rich with molasses flavor and the vitamins, minerals and trace elements naturally found in the sugar cane plant. Organic Sucanat tastes great in baked goods, beverages, sauces, coffee, tea and cereal.
