Sweeten Your Holidays!

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

Organic SweetsReady or not, fall has arrived! The crisp autumn air is a reminder that the holidays are quickly approaching… and so are the holiday treats!

Halloween candy is taking over grocery store shelves, and I can’t wait for pumpkin pie with flakey crust, hot apple cider, and Christmas cookies. This holiday season, consumers will treat their taste buds and their bodies with organic snacks and candies.

Here’s some sweet news: retail sales for specialty foods, including snacks and candy, rose 7.4 percent last year, well above the rate of inflation. Organic treats were a major contributor to increased sales, and 52 percent of consumers consider organic status an important factor when buying snacks and candy! (2011 State Of The Specialty Food Industry Report & Julie Besonen, “The New Post-Recession Consumer”, July 2011 issue of Specialty Food Magazine)

Are your sweets and snacks organic? ‘Tis the season to organically sweeten your treats; click here to check out some ideas to get started.

October is Non-GMO Month!

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

“Non-GMO Month was created by the Non-GMO Project in 2010 as a platform for raising awareness on the GMO issue. Citizens and organizations across North America are waking up to the failure of GMO technology, and discovering the risks GMOs pose to our health, our families, and our planet.

Non-GMO Month is an opportunity to coordinate our voices and our actions, so that we can stand up loudly and clearly for our right to know what’s in our food, and to choose non-GMO.” -Non-GMO Project

Congratulations to our many customers who are participating in Non-GMO month. (Click here to view participants)
